SRINAGAR: Police in Awantipora area arrested a man after recovering over one kilogram of contraband substance during a routine naka checking operation at Kharchek–Sharshalli road in Khrew on Thursday.
According to officials, the police team led by Station House Officer (SHO) Khrew, Inspector Naieem Rashid, intercepted a man moving suspiciously in the area. The individual was identified as Bilal Ahmad Lone, son of Mohd Maqbool Lone, resident of Sharshalli.
Upon searching him, police recovered 1.183 kilograms of Bang Choora from his possession. Subsequently, a case FIR No. 90/2025 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Khrew, and an investigation has been initiated.
Police said the Awantipora unit is continuing its campaign against drug peddling and urged the public to assist law enforcement agencies by providing information related to drug abuse and trafficking.
