The Kupwara district of north Kashmir on Sunday remained shut for the fourth consecutive day against the killing of scholar rebel militant Manan Wani and his associate in a gunfight on Thursday in Shatgund Village of Handwara.
Reports said that a complete shutdown is being observed in Kupwara town, Trehgam, Handwara, Langate and Lolab areas of the district.
All business establishments including shops and private offices are closed in the district while public transport is also off the roads.
Forces have been deployed at many places in order to prevent any untoward incidents, witnesses said.
Meanwhile, people continue to pour in from different areas of Kashmir in the house of scholar rebel Manan Wani and his associate Ashiq Hussian in Langate to express solidarity with their families.
