In order to prevent the Hurriyat(M) leaders from reaching Eidgah, police on Tuesday house arrested Moulana Abbas Ansari, Agha Syed Hassan, Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam and Zafar Akbar Bhat. Hurriyat (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq is undergoing house arrest since three days.
“Police on Tuesday house arrested Abbas Ansari Sahab,Agha Hassan Sahab and Zafar Akbar Bhat Sahab apart from me,” media advisor of Hurriyat (M) Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam told Kashmir Life. He added that more forces have been deployed around Mirwaiz Umar Farooq’s residence.
Shahid-ul-Islam also said that police and forces are not allowing people to move freely in Eidgah area.
A police official told KL that adequate measures have been taken to thwart the Eidgah program of Hurriyat conference (M). He added that these are aimed at maintaining law and order.
As already reported Deputy Commissioner and SSP Srinagar, on Monday met Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and formally informed him about not permitting the Eidgah program.
Pertinently, this is the third consecutive year when Hurriyat (M) has been denied permission to organize any gathering at Mazar-e-Shuhada to commemorate the anniversary of late Mirwaiz Moulana Mohammad Farooq and late Hurriyat leader Khawja Abdul Gani Lone.
Hurriyat(M) last time organized a huge gathering in Eidgah on May21, 2010.
Meanwhile a complete shutdown is being observed throughout valley. All the business establishments and Schools are closed and the normal life is disturbed.
