KUPWARA: In a shocking incident a newlywed person was found dead in Lolab area of Kupwara in what the police is suggesting is a case of suicide as per initial investigations.
Deceased, identified as 26-year-old Javeed Ahmad Shiekh, son of late Mohammad Sadiq Sheikh, a resident of Sheikh Mohallah Wavoora.
The incident took place at 9 pm on June 8, when the deceased had allegedly taken some poisonous substances. He was soon shifted to Sub District Hospital Sogam wherefrom he was further shifted to District Hospital Handwara. Finally, he breathed his last at SMHS Srinagar at 10 am today.
On June 6, the deceased had got married to a girl from adjoining Lalpora village.
“He had lost both parents. He is survived by his lone elder sister,” said Tanveer Ahmad, a local resident.
“He was a down-to-earth person. I was shocked when I came to know about this incident,” he added.
Station House Officer Sogam said they have lodged an FIR no 38 in the matter and further investigations are on.
