Maruti’s Ertiga Finally Unveiled At JamKash Srinagar

SRINAGAR: Almost a month after its launch in the plains, Maruti Suzuki unveiled its updated Ertiga at JamKash Vehicleads here. Though the car is available in CNG also, the car seller unveiled its petrol variant only.

The chief guest for the occasion was RTO Kashmir, Sajid Yahya Naqash and Irfan Ahmad Narwaroo, Managing Director of Jamkash Vehicleades (Kmr) Pvt Ltd. The staff of the company was present as the new car was unveiled.

“The new Ertiga will cost on road Rs 9.88 lakh and VXI model will cost Rs 11.18 on road,” a company spokesman said. “There are multiple model and they can be booked and delivered.” Though the car is available both in petrol and CNG guises but in Kashmir only petrol variant is available right now.

The updated Ertiga, Narwaroo said now has 1.5-litre petrol engine with DualJet technology and a mild-hybrid system paired to a new 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox with paddle-shifters. Besides, it has a restyled front end and changes to the interior.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has new front grille with an embedded ‘winged’ chrome trim, new dual-tone alloy wheels and chrome garnish on the tailgate. Inside the cabin, it has faux wood on the dashboard and a new dual-tone seat fabric.

The biggest is its engine that uses two injectors per cylinder, giving it greater control over fuel injection, and, as a result, greater power and efficiency. It puts out 103hp at 6000rpm and 136.8Nm at 4400rpm, which is 2hp and 1.2Nm down on the outgoing 1.5 engine, company officials said.

Till date, Maruti Suzuki was offering the DualJet technology only in their 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre K-Series engines. This would be the first time that the carmaker is offering it on its larger 1.5-litre motor. The same engine is expected to go in other, bigger Maruti cars.

A 5-speed manual gearbox is standard. Additionally, the ageing 4-speed torque-converter automatic of the outgoing model has been replaced by a new 6-speed unit with paddle-shifters. The Ertiga facelift is claimed to do 20.51kpl with the manual gearbox and 20.30kpl with the auto.
