Half an hour after his release in the open court by Tehsildar Srinagar, police re-arrested Masrat Alam Bhat at his residence in the Old city on Saturday.
Muslim League, spokesman, Rafiq Ganai, told Kashmir Life that a large contingent of police raided Masrat’s residence and re-arrested him.
“He was immediately taken to police station Shaheed Gunj,” Ganai said.
Police sources also confirmed the re-arresting of Masrat.
Hurriyat (G) leader and Muslim League president, Masrat Alam Bhat was released in the open court by Tehsildar Srinagar on Saturday.
“It was a happy time not for us only but for Masrat’s family as well after a long time but our happiness lasted only for few minutes when police re-arrested him,” Abdul Ahad Parra, a Muslim League leader said.
Parra strongly condemned what he called “the highhandedness of police.”
Pertinently, Masrat was arrested on October 18, 2010.
