Srinagar: A massive fire broke out in a forest area of Dachigam in Srinagar on Sunday evening.
An eyewitness said that the situation is out of control as the fire is spreading rapidly, adding that even the officials are finding it difficult to contain the fire.
An official from the Fire and Emergency department said that officials (fire beaters of the forest department) are working to control the fire, but it is difficult for the fire department to control it, as the fire appliance cannot reach to the exact spot in the forest.
He said that soon after the department got information about the fire, a team had rushed towards the location to douse the flames but due to the unavailability of the road the vehicle couldn’t reach on the spot.
“But we have conveyed the information to police; it’s up to them now what action they will take,” the official said.
