Massive fire leaves 9 injured, several shops damaged in Uri

Nine people sustained burn injuries after a massive fire engulfed a shopping complex in Uri tehsil of Baramulla district on Sunday.

The devastating fire incident at Lone complex left nine persons injured. Two shops and a residential flat in a complex also gutted completely, however, there were no immediate reports of the cause of the fire.

The injured persons were identified as Mohammad Hafiz Sheikh, 35, a resident of Jabla, Mohammad Abdulla Lone, 50, a resident of Uri, Raqib Ahmad, 35, from Bandi, Ajaz Kali, 45, of Uri, Azad Ahmad, 30, of Uri, Abdul Majid, 60,of Sukhdar, Abdul Ganai, 30, of Nambla, Bashir Ahmed, 30, of Gingle, and Khurshid Ahmed, 32 of Boniyar.

The injured persons were soon rushed to Sub District hospital Uri, from where seven have been referred to district hospital Baramulla for the specialized treatment.

Meanwhile, a team of Fire and Emergency men were also rushed to the spot, and with the help of locals they managed to douse off the flames and saved the nearby shops from the fire.
