SRINAGAR: A non-local individual was charred to death in a massive overnight blaze that ravaged a shopping complex and hotel at Batergam in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
A shopping complex, comprising several shops, and a hotel were engulfed in flames during the intervening night between Monday and Tuesday, spurces told a local news agency GNS.
“During the incident, a tailor from Uttar Pradesh, identified as Firoz Ahmed, was trapped inside. Unfortunately, by the time the fire was brought under control, the individual had tragically succumbed to the blaze,” they said.
Confirming the non-local’s death in the incident, a police official said that a team has already been dispatched to the scene to gather necessary details regarding the occurrence.
