Asking New Delhi to “learn a lesson” from the memorial row in Pulwama and mend its policies towards Kashmir, independent lawmaker representing Langate constituency in state legislature, Er Rasheed Wednesday urged state administration not to “pressurise and terrorise” the masses and resolve issue amicably.

Addressing Awami Ittihaad Party’s (AIP) general council meeting at Party Head Office Rajbagh here today, Rasheed said, “it is stupid on part of the administration to stop people from raising the memorial as every martyr’s grave yard, every habitation, every house hold and every Kashmiri is a memorial in itself.”

He said, “how can majority of the Kashmiris be at the side of those whom government calls terrorists, unless there is something beyond government claims and propaganda, which New Delhi doesn’t want to endorse, recognise and confess. It is right time to introspect that: is every Kashmiri a Pakistani agent or has New Delhi failed to win their hearts? Those who cry day and night that militants are just masters of destruction need also to learn big lessons from the extraordinary performance shown by kids of slain Afzal Guru and Gulzar Ah Bhat, in the results of recently held 10th class exams. Despite losing their beloved fathers and facing worst miseries and state terrorism and living a disturbing life with their ill-fated mothers, both have performed brilliantly. It can’t be a miracle nor would have they gained some extra knowledge overnight but surely their slain fathers would have contributed a lot in their carrier building despite having taken up arms in their hands.”

Rasheed said that Galib and Nazar Jehangir have answered many questions and every Kashmiri feels proud of them.
