SRINAGAR: As the Election Commission of India announced the schedule for assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir, the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) has come into effect immediately.
According to a statement the MCC comes into force from the moment the schedule is announced.
“All the provisions of the Model Code will apply to the entirety of Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir, with regard to all candidates, political parties, and the governments of the respective State/Union Territory,” the statement reads.
It further added that the election code would also be applicable to the Union Government concerning announcements and policy decisions related to Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir.
The Election Commission today announced the schedule for the long-overdue assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir, which will be held in three phases. The first phase will take place on September 18, the second on September 25, and the third on October 1. The results will be declared on October 4—(KNO).
