SRINAGAR: In a shocking incident from Maharashtra’s Thane district, a newlywed man sustained severe burn injuries after his father-in-law allegedly attacked him with acid during a dispute over his honeymoon destination. The victim, identified as Ibad Phalke, is currently hospitalised, while the accused father-in-law, Zaki Khotal, remains at large, police said on Thursday, ETV Bharat reported
Ibad, who married a month ago, had planned to visit Kashmir for his honeymoon. However, his father-in-law insisted he travel to Mecca to offer prayers, sparking a prolonged argument between the two. The verbal altercations escalated over several days, ultimately culminating in a violent confrontation.
ETV Bharat reported that according to the police, the incident occurred on Wednesday night in the Lal Chowki area of Kalyan West. While Ibad was walking home, Zaki confronted him, and the disagreement turned heated once again. In the ensuing altercation, Zaki allegedly attacked Ibad with acid, causing severe injuries. The accused fled the scene immediately after the attack.
“The dispute over finalising the honeymoon destination seems to have escalated into this tragic incident,” the news report quoted Senior Inspector Suresh Singh Gaud of the Bazarpet police station saying. “We have registered a case and launched a search operation to locate the accused. The matter is being thoroughly investigated.”
