Dozens of AIP workers Friday staged a sit-in at Press Colony Srinagar urging for the safety of all those students who are now being harassed, humiliated and tortured on hourly basis in different states of India, a party statement issued here read.

“The protesters assembled near Press Colony Srinagar this afternoon and started raising strong slogans seeking an end to the ill treatment and life threats being given to Kashmiri students outside. Protesters accused central government and national political parties of creating a vicious atmosphere against Kashmiris in every part of India and trying to over react over NIT issue.”

The statement added, “It is strange that every Indian politician is adding to the provocation over NIT issue and deeming it an act of so called patriotism.”

Meanwhile AIP chief Er Rashid appealed Mehbooba Mufti not to act as “mouth piece” of Rajnath Singh and rise to the occasion and ensure safety of Kashmiri students outside state.”
