Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, who was in Baramulla on her public outreach programme, on Monday announced release of Rs. 20 lakh for installing high mast lights and better illumination in the streets of the town.

Mehbooba Mufti also announced release of Rs. 20 lakh for construction of a drain from Boys Degree College to Kralhar and Rs. 10 lakh for developing a children’s park in the town. She also announced release of Rs. 15 lakh for improving facilities at Jhelum Sports Stadium, Janbazpora.

The Chief Minister also directed cleaning of flood channels in the town and announced release of Rs. 50 lakh for the purpose. She also directed modernization of two madrassas at Sheeri with computerization and other accessories.

A large section of people from the town, who met the Chief Minister during her day long public interface yesterday, had demanded improvement in the civic facilities in the town.

Asking the administration to pace up work on the developmental projects in the district, Mehbooba Mufti said her Government is keen on developing Baramulla on modern lines and for this many projects like widening of national highway from Narbal downwards, construction of alternative highway from Baramulla to Uri and two bridges-Fish market and Jetty bridge-over Jhelum in the town are in various stages of completion.

The Chief Minister appreciated the communal harmony of the people of the town and their peace loving nature and assured them that the assets would be created to match with the past reputation of the town.

During the public outreach programme, people hailed the Chief Minister for taking governance apparatus to their doorstep adding that it has helped them to project their demands directly without any disruption.
