Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti has expressed grief over the militant attack on Sunjwan army camp in Jammu on Saturday morning.

“Deeply disturbed by the terrorist attack in #Sunjwan today. My heart goes out to the injured & their families,” CM Tweeted.

Two army men, including a Junior Commissioner officer (JCO), were killed and four persons were injured after suspected Jaish-e-Mohammed militants attacked the Sunjwan army camp in Jammu on Saturday morning. The area has currently been cordoned off, reports claimed.

JCO Madan Lal Choudhary and his daughter were injured as militants stormed into the camp and opened fire. However, Choudhary later succumbed to his injuries, The Indian Express reported.

According to sources, at around 5 am, three to four militants entered the JCO family quarters located at the rear side of the army camp. Officials said the militants have been cornered in one of the family quarters and the operation is underway.

Intelligence inputs had warned an attack on the army or security establishment by JeM in view of the death anniversary of Afzal Guru who was hanged on February 9, 2013, news agencies reported.

Meanwhile, In the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, BJP MLAs raised anti-Pakistan slogans, following which the House was adjourned for 15 minutes.
