After around two months of negotiations, PDP president Ms Mehbooba Mufti finally had a meeting with BJP president Amit Shah in Delhi. They announed a formal they have arrived at an understanding and will be forming the governmnet in J&K very soon.
The two had a joint press conference after the meeting. They said the date for take over in J&K will be announced after Mufti Sayeed meets the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, possibly on Wednesday. Ms Mufti was accompanied by senior party leader Muzaffar Hussain Beig.
The event, however, did not lead to making public the CMP. Ms Mufti told reporters that the two parties have arrived at an “agenda for alliance” which will be made public once the Modi-Mufti meeting takes place. “We have kept national interest and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir in mind and worked out the alliance,” she said. “This is an attempt to win the hearts and minds of people of the state. Both the parties have found a middle path.”
Amit Shah expressed his happiness over the “differences” having “almost ended” as the two parties, after several rounds of discussion, have arrived at a common minimum programme.

Mufti is slated to meet Modi on Wednesday and March 1 is expected to be the day of swearing in. The two parties are expected to take over with six cabinet ministers each excluding Chief Minister and Speaker and a number of ministers of state.
