SRINAGAR: PDP President, Ms Mehbobba Mufti is being released, the spokesman of Jammu and Kashmir administration, Rohit Kansal said.

Ms Mufti is being held at her residence under Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act. She was arrested on August 5, 2019. Initially, she was kept at Cheshma Shahi and later shifted to MA Road. From there, she was sent home that was declared a sub-jail.

Ms Mufti’s daughter had approached the Supreme Court that had given time to Jammu and Kashmir administration to respond to their petition. Now she is being set free.
Welcoming the release of Mehbooba, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said, “I’m pleased to hear that @MehboobaMufti Sahiba has been released after more than a year in detention. Her continued detention was a travesty & was against the basic tenets of democracy. Welcome out Mehbooba.”
