SRINAGAR: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday expressed shock over the killing of a 12-year-old girl in Budgam’s Galwanpora area and called for a swift, transparent and time-bound investigation to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
In a post on X, she said she was devastated by the killing and expressed concern over allegations surrounding the case.

Mufti said the incident had shaken the conscience of Kashmir and described it as a stark reminder of the increasing vulnerability of children and women in society.
The post further said that the killing of the innocent child had left the entire society devastated and that no words could lessen the pain and trauma suffered by the bereaved family. It stated that such incidents strike at the moral fabric of society and call for collective introspection alongside strict legal action.
Mufti urged the administration to ensure that the investigation is conducted in a professional and impartial manner and that justice is delivered without delay.
She also called for stronger safeguards for children and women, stressing that incidents of violence and abuse must not be allowed to become a recurring concern.
Expressing solidarity with the bereaved family, Mufti prayed for strength for them during the difficult time and hoped that those responsible would be identified and punished at the earliest.
