PDP president Mehbooba Mufti is meeting governor NN Vohra on Tuesday regarding the government formation in the state, senior PDP leader, Naeem Akhtar told the media.
“Mehbooba Ji is meeting the governor Vohra to convey the party stand,” Akhar was quoted as saying. “She will convey the decision of the legislative party which has already authorized her take on the final call on the government formation.”
Interestingly, notwithstanding impasse over government formation, Vohra Monday faxed to Fairview, asking Mehbooba Mufti to clarify on government formation.
In between, the former ally of PDP, BJP flew to Delhi to brief party president, Amit Shah about the government stalement in the state.
Insiders told Kashmir Life that the lawmakers reiterated their stand that the party president has the complete authority to take the final call on the government formation. Interestingly, however, most of the lawmakers who spoke on the occasion supported the alliance.
“Members supported the continuation of the alliance that was stitched by the party founder,” a senior party leader said. “They, however, insisted that the power should not be bartered for the interests of the people and the state.”
Various lawmakers said Agenda of Alliance should be implemented in letter and spirit. They highlighted various issues that need urgent implementation. These include de-militarizing the land that is under the occupation of the army.
Lawmakers said the grant that enables the state to get its two power projects back from NHPC must be released at the earliest. Apart from liberal financial assistance to manage the flood devastated Kashmir, the lawmakers said there should be a timeline for reducing the footprints of the paramilitary men. Some even talked about a fair system for regularizing the services of the SPOs.
Ms Mufti will be meeting the governor NN Vohra and explaining the situation that exists in the BJP PDP alliance.
