SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday expressed deep grief over the demise of senior National Conference (NC) leader and former minister Dr Mustafa Kamal, describing his passing as a significant loss to the political landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a condolence message, PDP President Mehbooba Mufti and the party’s senior leadership paid rich tributes to Dr Kamal, recalling his decades-long political career and contributions to public life.
The party said Dr Kamal, a qualified medical doctor who entered politics, remained an influential political figure for more than four decades. During his political career, he served as a legislator, cabinet minister and senior functionary of the National Conference. He was known for his outspoken political views, steadfast commitment to his ideology and active participation in public affairs until his final days.
Besides Mehbooba Mufti, PDP Vice President Mohammad Sartaj Madni, Chairman Parliamentary Board Abdul Rehman Veeri, Chief Spokesperson Dr Mehboob Beg, General Secretary (Organisation) Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura, General Secretary Advocate Abdul Haq Khan, Mohammad Khursheed Alam, Additional General Secretary Mohammad Yousuf Bhat and other senior party leaders expressed condolences to the bereaved family.
The PDP also conveyed its sympathies to National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah on the loss of his younger brother and to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on the demise of his uncle.
Praying for the departed leader, the party said it hoped Almighty Allah would grant Dr Mustafa Kamal the highest place in Jannat-ul-Firdous, forgive his shortcomings and give strength and patience to the bereaved family to bear the loss.
