Terming the remarks of CM Mehbooba Mufti during the passing out parade of Police as “fabricated and far from reality”, chairperson of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah Wednesday said when Mehbooba was out of power she used to criticize the same police force upon which she is showering praises now.

In a statement issued to here, Shah said, “The lust of power has made Mehbooba so much helpless that she is beginning to shower praises for the same police force against which she used to spit venom when in opposition. She even forgot the dramas and crocodile tears she used to shed over the innocent killings in order to gain sympathies of people,” he said.

Shah said Kashmiris will never forget the politics of “deception and deceit” which Mehbooba Mufti played during opposition.

“Taking out protests against AFSPA and innocent killings by police was only aimed at misleading masses and gaining power. Now showering angelic praises upon forces has exposed her. This is the worst kind of dishonesty with the people of Jammu and Kashmir on her part,” he said.

“Mehbooba must answer as for what deeds she hailed the forces. Was it for recent killings in Handwara, Kupwara fake encounter, or innocent killings in Sarai Bala?” Shah questioned.

Commenting on Mehbooba’s remarks regarding Pakistan, Syria, and Iraq, Shabir Ahmad Shah suggested her to “stay within bounds” and not comment on issues that are above her caliber. “By commenting on the international issues, Mehbooba Mufti has put her foot in mouth. She must comment as per her stature otherwise by doing so she only makes a joke of herself,” he said.

The DFP chairman said by making “irresponsible” remarks against Pakistan, Mehbooba Mufti obviously was putting a cover on the “conspiracies India” has been hatching against its neighbor in order to weaken it.

“There is no doubt that India is bent to destabilize Pakistan but it is an open reality that the Islamic Republic of Pakistan will continue to emerge strong and be a fortress of the Muslims of the world,” Shah said.

Shah said the situation in Jammu and Kashmir is not like Syria or Iraq but there is a movement running against the “illegal and forcible occupation of a usurper country”, India.

Shabir Ahmad Shah also termed the killing of two youth in Sarai Bala area of Srinagar as “doubtful” and demanded an impartial probe into the incident by an international investigating agency. He said such “fake encounters” have become a norm in Kashmir with culprits enjoying complete impunity.
