People’s Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti is flying to Jammu tomorrow to meet Governor NN Vohra the next day to inform the later about any developments in government formation, sources said on Monday.

Vohra has already written to PDP and BJP to “meet and discuss their plans of government formation with him.”

“Mehbooba Mufti will be leaving for Jammu on Tuesday and she is scheduled to meet the state governor on Wednesday, December 31, sources said however, they did not say whether she will be meeting the governor all alone or with a party delegation.

They further said that BJP state president Jugal Kishore is also scheduled to meet the governor in the afternoon the same day.

PDP won 28 while as BJP bagged 25 seats in the recently concluded assembly elections. Since then there has been no forward movement on the government formation.

The governor should normally have invited only the PDP, that has emerged as the largest single party, in the 87-member Assembly, but as the BJP has claimed it has the support of six out of seven Independents elected, it became necessary for Vohra to invite both parties for discussions.
