Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti on Friday asked the trade bodies to become catalysts in further strengthening the foundations of industry in the State.

Interacting with a delegation of new office bearers of Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) which called on her here today, the Chief Minister said her Government is taking steps to ensure reforms in business, industrial,  labour and other sectors of economy to make the business activity in the State much more easier. She invited the delegation to share their views and ideas with the Government to further ease the business activity in the State.

Minister for Finance, Dr Haseeb Drabu was also present on the occasion.

Complimenting the new office bearers of KCCI on assuming charge, Mehbooba Mufti hoped the new team would be able to galvanize this one of the oldest business platforms of the State into a vibrant activity forum for enhancing industrial growth, expanding social inclusion and further deepening the social responsibility of the business community.

The delegation invited the Chief Minister for the coming meeting of the apex trade body. They thanked her for initiating steps to improve tourist footfall in the coming winter months. They also thanked her for redressing their pleas regarding reducing tax rates on walnut industry and shawl vendors.

The delegation sought taking steps for improving awareness about GST, filing of returns and remissions among the trader community. They also sought help in developing Chamber House at Srinagar.

The delegation comprised Javeed Ahmad Tenga, President; Nasir Ahmad Khan and Fayaz Ahmad Punjabi, Vice Presidents; Dr Gazalla Amin, General Secretary;  Parveez Naqash, Asif Siddiq, Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad, Syed Masood Shah, Sheikh Gowhar Ali, Sheikh Zahoor Ahmad and other members.
