SRINAGAR: Cold wave conditions continued across Kashmir on Thursday as the minimum temperatures remained below the freezing point, even as the local meteorological department predicted another spell of snow and rains in higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir from today.

The weatherman said that light snowfall is expected over higher reaches of JK and Ladakh from today.

He said that another spell of rain and snow of light to moderate intensity is likely at scattered to fairly widespread places of J&K and Kargil district especially over Drass Zojila area during November 24 and November 25.

“As of now, there is no forecast of any heavy snowfall till ending November,” said the official.

Srinagar the summer capital of J&K, recorded a low of 0.2 degree Celsius, while the mercury in Qazigund, the gateway town to the Valley in southern Kashmir, settled at a low of 0.8 degree Celsius.

He said the ski-resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district recorded a low of minus 5.4 degree Celsius, while the night temperature in the tourist resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir settled at a low of minus 0.7 degree Celsius.

Kokernag town recorded a low of minus 0.5 degree Celsius while Kupwara town in north Kashmir, registered a low of 1.3 degree Celsius last night, the official said.

Jammu recorded a low of 9.8 degree Celsius while Batote recorded 4.2 degree Celsius, Banihal 1.0 degree Celsius and Bhaderwah 1.6 degree Celsius.
