Amid the light snowfall in parts of Kashmir, the state’s meteorological predicted more snow and rain during the next 36 hours in Kashmir.

The weatherman also forecasts a significant fall in day temperature and a slight rise in night temperature.

As night temperatures rose slightly in Valley, the Srinagar city recorded minus 1.5 degree Celsius temperature. The famous hill resort of Pahalgam was at minus 6.8 degree Celsius while Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, recorded minus 3 degrees Celsius, and Kokernag, recorded minus 6.7 degrees Celsius.

The famous ski-resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir saw a minimum of minus 12.6 degrees Celsius, Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered minus 2.4 degrees Celsius,

Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner Baseer Ahmad Khan has issued a fresh avalanche warning for nine avalanche prone districts of Kashmir division.

The warning has been issued for the avalanche-prone areas of district Islamabad, Kulgam, Budgam, Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Kargil and Leh of J&K state.

As per a handout, the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir has asked the Deputy Commissioners of all these districts to advise the people living in avalanche prone areas not to venture out to avoid the loss of lives.

The Div Com also directed the concerned DCs to take all the precautionary measures and to keep the SDRF, Police and Para-medical staff with ambulances in readiness to avert any untoward incident.
