SRINAGAR: The Meteorological Department has predicted wet weather in Jammu and Kashmir during the next day.

The Meteorological department (MeT) here on Friday has predicted another spell of light to moderate snow/rain in Jammu and Kashmir from February 22.

An official of the meteorological (MET) department said, “A western disturbance (WD) is likely to affect J&K from February 22 evening up to 27.”

“During this period, light to moderate rain/snowfall is likely mainly on February 22 night, 23rd, 26th and 27th in Kashmir region. Rain with thunderstorm is expected at some places in Jammu region whereas light snowfall is likely at scattered places of Ladakh.

“There is no forecast of any heavy precipitation during this spell,” an official of the meteorological (MET) department said.

Pahalgam – the famous health resort which also serves as one of the base camps for the annual Amarnath Yatra was the coldest place in the valley where minimum temperature settled at a low of minus 4.5 degrees.

The temperature in Gulmarg famous ski-resort in north Kashmir was recorded a low of minus 3.0 degrees Celsius.

Srinagar, the summer capital of J&K recorded a low of minus 0.2 while the mercury in Qazigund in south Kashmir settled at a low of minus 1.5 degrees Celsius.

Kokernag town recorded a low of 0.5 degrees Celsius while Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of minus 2.3 degrees Celsius last night.

Jammu city recorded 11.2 degrees Celsius, Katra town 10.6, Batote 7.1, Banihal 4.4 and Bhaderwah 2.3 as the minimum temperatures.
