SRINAGAR: The Meteorological Department has predicted another spell of snowfall and rain from Saturday night in Jammu and Kashmir.

Sonam Lotus, Director of Meteorological Department, said, “Intermittent light to moderate rain/snowfall on higher reaches most likely during tonight till March 8 forenoon at most places of Jammu and Kashmir.”

“Thereafter, another spell of scattered to widespread rain with thunderstorm and snowfall most likely during March 11 and March 13 with occasional breaks in between,” he said.

“The spell may disrupt  Banihal-Ramban and Zojila Highway due to landslide, snowfall,” he added.

Srinagar, the summer capital of the state recorded a low of 3.8 while the mercury in Qazigund in south Kashmir settled at a low of 1.5 degrees Celsius.

The famous ski-resort Gulmarg in north Kashmir was the coldest place in the region where the minimum temperature was minus 3.0 degrees Celsius.

The temperature in Pahalgam the famous health resort which also serves as one of the base camps for the annual Amarnath Yatra was minus 1.8 degrees Celsius.

Kokernag town recorded a low of 2.5 degrees Celsius while Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of 0.1 degrees Celsius last night.

Jammu city recorded 11.5 degrees Celsius, Katra town 12.8, Batote 8.3, Banihal 6.3, and Bhaderwah 3.5 as the minimum temperatures.
