SRINAGAR: Clear sunny morning greeted people in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday with the meteorological department forecasting a spell of rain next week.

An official from meteorological (MeT) department said, “Weather is expected to remain dry with clear and it will be sunny days in J&K and Ladakh till February 22, when a spell of inclement weather is likely to occur.”

“There is no likelihood of any major rain/snowfall in the two union territories because of the western disturbance (WD) approaching around February 22,” he said.

Pahalgam in south Kashmir was the coldest place in the Valley where minimum temperature was minus 4.5 degrees celsius.

Srinagar, the summer capital of the J&K recorded a low of minus 1.2 while the mercury in famous Skii resort Gulmarg in north Kashmir settled at a low of minus 3.8 degrees Celsius.

The minimum night temperature at Qazigund in south Kashmir settled at a low of minus 2.5 degrees Celsius.

Kokernag town recorded a low of minus 0.2 degrees Celsius while Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of minus 3.2 degrees Celsius last night.

Jammu city recorded 9.7 degrees Celsius, Katra town 10.3, Batote 4.5, Banihal 1.6 and Bhaderwah 1.7 as the minimum temperatures.
