SRINAGAR

In the back drop of recent militant attacks and to review security arrangements for annual Amarnath Yatra, a high level team from Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is likely to arrive here next week.

Sources told KNS that the team headed by joint secretary level officer in MHA will hold two separate security review meetings in Jammu and Srinagar and also call on Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to take their view point on the situation and brief them on the Centre’s feedback of security scenario.

“The team is likely to arrive here next week and will visit forward border posts of Jammu and Srinagar along the International Border (IB) for on spot review of the situation. Recent attacks by the militants after infiltration from across the border, more attempts by the militants to cross over and steps taken by the BSF to curb the intrusion bids would come up for discussion during the meeting,” sources told KNS.

They said arrangements for peaceful summer to ensure smooth flow of tourists and Amarnath Yatra will be the main agenda in the meetings apart from militancy related situation.

Sources added that apart from security review, the MHA delegation will hold separate meeting on relief and rehabilitation arrangements for September 2014 and March 2015 flood victims in Srinagar.
