SRINAGAR: The Raj Bhavan in Jammu and Kashmir, the official residence of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, has been renamed Lok Bhavan following a directive from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
According to an order issued by the LG’s Principal Secretary, Mandeep K Bhandari, the change has been made in compliance with an MHA communication dated November 25, 2025. The order states that the institution formerly known as Raj Bhavan, Jammu and Kashmir will henceforth be referred to solely as Lok Bhavan, Jammu and Kashmir for all official purposes.
The renaming follows a proposal made during the Governors’ Conference 2024, where it was recommended that all Raj Bhavans across the country be redesignated as Lok Bhavans. The updated nomenclature takes immediate effect.
