SRINAGAR: Veteran Gujar politician and spiritual leader, Mian Bashir Ahmad is no more. He breathed his last around 9 pm. He was 98.
Reports reaching from Kangan suggested that Mian Sahib was not well for a long time. He passed away at his home.
Locals said the family has decided that Mian Sahab’s funeral prayers would be offered at 4 pm, on August 15, 2021. He would be laid to rest at Baba Nagri, alongside his ancestors.
Mian Sahab was a respected Gujar leader and a senior politician as well. He was with Congress and later joined the National Conference. In 2008, he was bestowed with Padma Bushan. However, for a very long time, he dissociated himself from politics. It was his son, Mian Altaf Ahmad who inherited the politics and represented the belt for many decades in the erstwhile assembly of Jammu and Kashmir.
