Mid-Night Clashes Break in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD

Clashes broke out between youth and police in Sherbagh area of South Kashmir’s Islamabad town late Saturday night while Muslims around the globe are observing Shab-e-Qadr.

Around 11 pm, youth attacked police post Sherbagh with stones and in retaliation police fired tear smoke shells to disperse the angry youth, said eyewitnesses.

People offering Shab-e-Qadr prayers complained of disturbance due to the presence of tear smoke gas and stone pelting.

A number of vehicles parked at Sherbagh have also been damaged in the clashes.

The area remained abuzz on Shab-e-Qadr as major Masjids of the area fall in the vicinity.

Clashes continued till late while this report was being filed.
