Jammu and Police on Friday claimed to have arrested in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, police said.

“On specific information, a joint Nakka of Police/Army/92 CRPF was laid at Chutipora crossing at 1430 hrs,” the police spokesman said.

“During checking a suspicious person was intercepted. On his search a pistol and 2 grenades were recovered,” he said.

“The person was identified as Sajjad Ahmad Dar son of  Abdul Hamid Dar a resident of Rohumu Pulwama. Sajjad had been missing from his home since 03/10/2018 and a report to the effect had been lodged in Police Station Rajpora, District Pulwama. Sajjad has recently joined the militant organisation Al Badr,” said police spokesman.

“A case has been registered in this regard at Police Station Handwara and the investigation has been set in motion,” the police spokesman in a statement said.
