Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested a militant associate in south Kashmir’s Awantipora town of Pulwama district.
A police spokesman in a statement he has been identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Dar alias Maheed resident of Dangerpora Padgampora.
“As per police records he has been assisting the active militants of proscribed outfit LeT operating in the areas of Padgampora, Sonrigund, Gulzarpora, Beighpora, Reshipora and Dangerpora areas of Awantipora,” said the spokesman.
“As per the investigation, he was involved in threatening and intimidating civilians residing in the area. He was also involved in providing logistic support and assistance to LeT militants operating in the areas of Awantipora,” he said.
He said that a case under the relevant section of law has been registered at Police Station Awantipora and further investigation in the matter is in progress.
