SRINAGAR: Police on Thursday claimed to have busted a hideout of Hizbul Mujahideen militant outfit in Ganai Mohalla Doabagh area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
A police spokesman in a statement said that on Thursday at about 1530hrs, based on credible input regarding the presence of militants in Ganai Mohalla Doabgah, Sopore Police along with 22 RR & 179Bn CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in the said area.
“During the search in the area, one hideout of proscribed outfit HM was found in the basement of a single storied house belonging to one person (name withheld),” said the spokesman.
“Incriminating materials including a huge cache of arms & ammunition were recovered from the busted hideout. The hideout was destroyed on spot in presence of the Executive Magistrate. In this connection, one militant associate was also arrested,” he said.
“All the recovered materials have been taken into Police custody for the purpose of investigation. Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Sopore and further investigation has been initiated in this regard,” said police spokesman in a statement.
