Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday said that a Hizb militant identified as Asif Ashraf Malik, son of Ashraf Malik, a resident of Krawoora Shopian district, who was yesterday injured in the fire exchange is admitted to SKIMS hospital for the treatment.

The spokesman said Asif, was admitted to SKIMS with a bullet injury. Preliminary investigation suggests that he was injured in yesterday’s incident at Ahgam where militants from a swift car opened fire on an Army patrol. The medical bulletin of the injured is yet to be received. Police are investigating the matter, police said.

Yesterday, gunmen opened fire on army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles deployed in Ahgam, around 8:30 pm.

The forces retaliated by firing, resulting in a brief exchange of fire. However, there was no immediate report of any loss.
