SRINAGAR: A militant was killed and an AK rifle and other war-like stores were recovered during a joint search operation in Ashdar Gali area of Budgam, the Army said on Friday.
The operation was launched by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF based on specific intelligence input, the Chinar Corps said in a post on X.

The Army said its troops observed suspicious activity during the operation and, upon being challenged, the militants opened fire, triggering an exchange of gunfire.
In the ensuing exchange, one militant was killed, while an AK rifle and other war-like stores were recovered, it said.
The search operation was in progress, according to the Army.
