A militant was killed in an ongoing gunfight with the government forces in Shukbabun area of Sumlar village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Thursday.
Reports said that army’s 14 RR and Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Shukbabun area of Sumlar village following inputs about the presence of militants.
They said a gunfight broke out after militants fired upon the joint team of forces during the searches.
“In the retaliatory fire, one militant has been killed,” said an official.
“A militant has been killed so far. Identity is yet to be ascertained. Search continues. Information is preliminary in nature,” Kashmir police zone wrote on Twitter.
