A complete shutdown was observed in most parts of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday to mourn the death of Hizb militants who died in a brief gunfight in the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.
According to locals, all the shops and business establishments remained closed in Pulwama district while the traffic was thin on roads in the district.
Locals said that minor clashes erupted between youth and forces in Tahab area of the district.
Three militants were killed in an encounter with forces in Panzgam village during the intervening night of Friday-Saturday.
Police said that operation was carried out after receiving a tipoff about the presence of militants in a house at Panzgam.
The slain militants were identified as Ishfaq Baba of Tahab, Ishfaq Dar of Dogripora and Haseeb Paul of Brao Badan.
Meanwhile, Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (Hizb) on Sunday paid tributes to the slain militants.
As per a Hizb statement issued to KNS, Chief of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen and United Jihad Council (UJC) Chairperson, Syed Salah-ud-din in a Hizb command council meeting said the slain militants are the “real heroes”.
“The slain militants who sacrificed their lives for better tomorrow are the real heroes. The martyrdom of three slain militants Ishfaq Baba, Ishfaq Dar and Haseeb Paul is a loss which is not able to compensate but at the same time sacrificing lives to achieve the goal is inevitable,” Salah-ud-din said.
He thanked people and said, “they have played exemplary role in appreciating the militants.”
Meanwhile, the outfit prayed for the three slain militants and also for the patience to their families.
