The main town Pulwama is observing a complete shutdown on Saturday after three militants died in Awantipora area of the district.

Reports and witnesses said that shopkeepers closed down their shops just after the news of death of three militants reached the town.

“Vehicles are off the roads while cops are stationed at various places,” a passenger on way to Pampore said, “I had to alternate route through a Gulley as there was hue and cry on main road.”

Gunfight erupted after forces cordoned off Panzgam village following specific inputs about the presence of militants.

Belonging to Hizbul Mujahideen, the slain militants have been identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Dar of Dogirpura, Ishfaq Ahmad Baba of Tahab and Haseeb Ahmad Pahla (Palla) of Bandina.

Reports added that three AK-47 rifles have been recovered from the encounter site.

Meanwhile, a news report said that a teen was wounded after an unexploded grenade went off at the gunfight site.

The report identified the injured as 18-year-old Vakil Ahmad Wagay. He has received splinter injuries in the grenade blast at the encounter site in Panzgam village. He was rushed to hospital.
