SRINAGAR: A militant killed in a gunfight with the counter-insurgent forces at Baskuchan area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district was affiliated with Lashkar-I-Toiba outfit, police said.
An official said that the slain militant was identified as Naseer Ahmad Bhat of Nowpora Baskuchan Shopian.

“Incriminating materials, arms & ammunition have been recovered from the site of the encounter. All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation,” he said.
He added that he was involved in several crimes and recently escaped from an encounter
He added that in this regard, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation has been initiated.
