Militants escape in Hajin, Youth injured during clashes

Forces on Monday called off a search operation in a Hajin village in north Kashmir as the militants managed to escape from their cordon.

Reports reaching here said that the cordon and search operation, which started the early morning after the exchange of fire between militants and forces was called off as militants managed to escape.

A civilian was also injured during the clashes that broke out in Bon Mohalla area of Hajin in this north Kashmir district.

Earlier acting on a tip-off about the presence of militants in Bon Mohalla village of Hajin area of Bandipora district, a joint group of army and SOG cordoned off the village.

As the news spread, intense clashes erupted between youth and forces.

According to reports, the youth took to streets soon after forces launched a search operation. Youth pelted stones on government forces who retaliated with tear smoke shells triggering clashes.

Reports said during the clashes one person got injured identified as Riyaz Ahmad Rather son of Ghulam Nabi Rather of Rather mohalla Hajin.
