A gunfight broke out between militants and government forces at Laddi village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday morning.

Reports said that a joint team of army and SOG cordoned off the Laddi village of Imamsahab today wee hours.

An official said that the cordon was launched in the area following specific information about the presence of some militants.

The militants, believed to be two to three in number, opened fire, triggering off a brief firefight, he said.

He said that the search operation is ongoing in the area to trace out the hiding militants.

When reports last came the cordon-and-search operation was going on in the area. (GNS)
