Suspected militants on Thursday lobbed a grenade at the residence of ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker in Shopian district in southern part of Kashmir.

Reports said that grenade was hurled at the residence of MLA Wachi Aijaz Ahmad in Zainapora area of the district.

“The grenade landed in the premises of the residence and exploded. There was no report of any damage to life or the property,” they said.

Reports said that the policemen deployed for security duty fired several round in the air following the blast.

The legislator and his family were not present in the house at the time of the blast.
