SRINAGAR: The minimum temperatures across Jammu and Kashmir improved slightly on Sunday due to partial cloud cover as the weather is likely to remain dry till December 4.

An official from the MeT department said, “Due to partial cloud cover, minimum temperatures improved marginally in J&K and Ladakh. Weather is expected to generally remain dry till December 4 after which another spell of rain and snow is expected.”

Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded minus 1.4 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature on today as compared to Saturday’s minus 2.2.

The famous ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir, which experienced several feet of snowfall on various occasions last month, was the coldest place in Kashmir with a low of minus 3.2 degrees Celsius.

The famous hill resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded a minimum of minus 2.3 degrees Celsius.

Kupwara township of north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 0.7 degrees Celsius. Kokernag, in south Kashmir, recorded minus 0.3 degrees Celsius while Qazigund registered 0.4, he said.

In the Jammu region, Jammu city recorded 9.8 degrees Celsius, Katra recorded 10.7, Banihal 5.2, Batote recorded 8.7 and Bhaderwah 4.5 as the night’s lowest temperatures.
