SRINAGAR: Minimum night temperatures continued their free fall in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday due to clear overnight sky, a Met official said.

“The minimum temperatures dropped further across Jammu and Kashmir today due to clear night sky. These temperatures are likely to drop further as the weather is likely to remain dry till October 31,” he said.

Leh town of Ladakh region recorded the lowest minimum temperature at minus 5.6 degrees Celsius while Kargil recorded minus 1.6 degrees Celsius.

Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded 7.4 degrees while Kokernag, in south Kashmir, recorded 4.8 degrees Celsius

The famous hill resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir was the coldest place in Kashmir with a low of of minus 1.7 degrees Celsius.

The famous ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded low of minus 1.4 degrees Celsius.

Kupwara township of north Kashmir recorded a low of 2.8  degrees Celsius while Qazigund registered 6.2, he said.

In the Jammu region, Jammu city recorded 13.0 degrees Celsius, Katra recorded 11.8, Banihal 7.0, Batote recorded 5.9 and Bhaderwah recorded 4.8 as the night’s lowest temperatures.
