Police have registered a case against the miscreants for demolishing and defacing a pedestal erected by Rural and Development Department in Gadool Kokernag area of South Kashmir’s Islamabad district.
Block Development Officer Kokernag Rashid Ahmad told CNS Minister for R&D Abdul Haq Khan was supposed to inaugurate a five Kilometre road from Gadool to Magraypora on December 26 and for that purpose the Block had erected a foundation stone at Gadool area. “A day before inauguration, some miscreants defaced and demolished the foundation stone prompting us to lodge an FIR in police station Kokernag,” he said.
Locals who staged a protest against the demolition alleged that it was the “handiwork of few land grabbers” who have illegally occupied the state land and they don’t want road from Gadool to Magraypora should be constructed.
Station House Officer Kokernag Tariq Ahmed said that after receiving a complaint from Block Development Officer they have registered an FIR in this regard. “Investigation has been going to identify the miscreants,” he said.
