In a post shared on social media platform X, the ministry warned that the disclosure of sensitive or source-based information could compromise operational effectiveness and endanger lives on the ground.
“Past incidents like the #KargilWar, 26/11 attacks, and the #Kandahar hijacking underscore the risks of premature reporting,” the ministry stated.
Citing Clause 6(1)(p) of the Cable Television Networks (Amendment) Rules, 2021, the advisory clarified that only periodic briefings by designated officials are authorised during anti-terror operations. Any unauthorised real-time coverage or speculative reporting is deemed not only irresponsible but potentially dangerous.
