Minor dies while crossing rivulet in Pattan

In a heartbroken incident on Tuesday, a minor girl drowned to death after she tried to cross a local rivulet called Gundari Nallah in Hurcheck village of Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla District.

The girl identified as Aaliya Jan, daughter of Nazir Ahmad, a resident of Hurcheck village of Pattan died after locals failed to take her to the hospital due to the lack of the bridge that connects the village with rest of the population.

Soon after the incident, locals went inside the water and fished out her body from the water, and subsequently were trying to shift her to the hospital. “We tried to take her to the hospital but ultimately failed,” said one the resident.

Reports said that the inhabitants of the village are up in arms against the administration for their sheer negligence towards the village. Adding that, Locals have urged the governor’s administration to look into the grave issue and take concrete steps in sanctioning the bridge to the said village.
