SRINAGAR: A schoolboy from Baramulla drowned to death during a picnic in the Sonamarg area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Saturday.
According to an official report, the student from Public School Baramulla drowned in the River Sindh while taking a bath.
The victim has been identified as Shoaib Farooq Chachi (14), the son of Farooq Ahmad Chachi, a resident of Chandousa in Baramulla. He was immediately taken to the PHC Sonamarg, where doctors declared him brought dead.
The incident has been taken seriously by the police, who have initiated an investigation into the matter. (KS)
